Online counseling is available using your computer or smartphone utilizing a HIPAA secure and compliant audio and video platform. There are many benefits to the online treatment, including convenience, not having to travel to an office, or leaving the comfort of your home to access treatment. Increased access to providers outside of your immediate area.

Special considerations for online counseling:

Online counseling via telehealth is not for everyone or the best choice in all situations. Clients who are suicidal may require in-person care and may not be a good fit for online services.

Tips for success with online counseling

  • Arrange for a quiet and private space for your session free from distractions and excess noise.

  • Before your appointment time, ensure you have speakers or headphones (if using a computer), or your device is fully charged.

  • Make sure to download the app before the appointment. This helps us start the session on time.

  • Talk to others who may be present to communicate your need for privacy before the appointment.

  • Choose a room with a closed-door that will be free from others in the room or passing through.

  • Schedule when you can devote your full attention and not be distracted.

  • Schedule at a time where you will not be driving or a passenger in a car (for confidentiality and safety reasons).

  • Close other browser windows and turn off TVs and music to avoid distractions.

  • Dress appropriately and be aware of your surroundings when using a video platform.
